To Skype Or Not to Skype

When my sister-in-law was pregnant with her first child, I spent hours trying to get their household online with a video webcam. Though we finally achieved a live connection, latency with the audio was terrible. Latency with the video was nasty.

Fast forward ten years to this morning. In preparation for my trip to Arizona next month, I installed Skype on my laptop, as did my father and brother. After an hour on Skype with my Pop trying to get the video AND audio working properly, we finally got everything working. It was so kewl and so much better than that one time we tried it so long ago.

I even got to see and talk with my two oldest neices. Me likes the Skype. And evidently so do a lot of people. While I was online, I noticed that on the very bottom of the screen there is a little tab that show how many accounts are logged in and it read over 10 million. TEN MILLION!!! Naturally, that's worldwide, but still TEN MILLION. YIKES!

Very awesome. I highly recommend it. Now, I just need my George Jetson mask for the next call from my brother. [wink]

Had a nice time Friday night. She did go. The pancakes were fantastic Saturday morning. This pancake recipe I use is from a friend from college. It's great. It's so easy. Want the recipe? Lemme know. Yesterday, she wanted to see a movie and much to my surprise she wanted to see "Eagle Eye". I figured that was more of a dick-flick and NOT a chick-flick but she wanted to see it anyway. So we went. I hope she wasn't trying to be 'nice' to me because I can so do without Shia Labeouf. As for the movie, eh, it did it's job - that being that I was entertained for a few hours. Will I Netflix it when it comes out on DVD? I don't think so. Once was way enough.

But it was nice to spend time with Emjay. We had plans to go to Original Joe's in downtown San José last night and then the Farenheit Lounge - but when we got home from the theater, she wanted to take a nap. I joined her and three hours later - we just made grilled cheese sandwhices and watched cable until SNL started. Well, she watched SNL in the front, I moved myself to the back to watch MADtv. Commentary: this season's MADtv sux even more than last year. I think I'm going to have to migrate back to SNL.
